This DVD film was commissioned by Angel Row Gallery Nottingham for inclusion in the group show EXCESS, shown at the Gallery 11th January 2006 to 13th January 2007.'Mussulman' is another term for 'Muslim'.
Previous works involving Mehndi usually involved decorating my body with an arbitrary pattern. During this process the fact that I was marking a body would feel irrelevant- up to a period of a few hours I would simply be filling a space with a drawing tool. In this new work, through tracing through the muscular structure from beneath the skin I was able to revisit this ritual in a way that made me conscious of my body throughout the entire process.
